Beijer Electronics volunteers bring warmth to rescued animals at Bali animal shelter
Each year in Taiwan, more than 100,000 dogs and cats end up on the streets, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture. With overcrowded shelters and limited resources, many of these animals endure poor living conditions for long periods while waiting for care and compassion. Locally, these strays are affectionately called “Lang Lang”—a Taiwanese nickname that reflects both their wandering nature and the growing empathy people feel toward them. Most are the result of abandonment or uncontrolled breeding, facing hunger, disease, and constant survival threats—making animal welfare a growing and urgent concern.
As part of our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Beijer Electronics organized a volunteer initiative titled “One Day, One Mission: Helping Strays”, calling on employees to dedicate a day to support the Animal Protection Association of Taiwan at its shelter in Bali District, New Taipei City. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clean, maintain storage areas, walk dogs, and interact with the animals—delivering comfort through genuine care and presence.
The Animal Protection Association of Taiwan has long been devoted to promoting animal welfare education, rescuing and rehoming stray animals, and providing shelter and basic medical care. The Bali shelter, situated in a serene mountainous area, offers a spacious and natural environment where rescued dogs and cats can roam, recover, and reconnect with their natural instincts. While its remote location poses logistical challenges, the peaceful setting is a much-needed haven for animals that have known only struggle.
During the volunteer day, Beijer Electronics team members worked in groups to help clean the feed storage area, organize the environment, and take dogs on nature walks along forest trails—offering the animals both physical activity and emotional companionship. Shelter staff also shared insights on responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering, reinforcing awareness around animal welfare.
This CSR event was more than a volunteer opportunity—it reflected Beijer Electronics’ broader commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) values. By encouraging employees to take part in hands-on, community-driven initiatives, the company strengthens its connection to both society and the environment. Moving forward, Beijer Electronics will continue expanding its CSR efforts, covering areas from environmental sustainability and educational support to animal welfare, building a more compassionate and sustainable future together with its employees and the public.
