Problem (application with more then 1 slave).
When setting parameters in ”Modbus Slave Init” to slave 2 (or higher) the value are written to slave 1 instead.
This Solution are only needed when there are more then one slave (NA-9173) connected to the Modbus RTU network!
The bug are fixed in CODESYS driver ”Modbus Master, Com Port” version 3.5.10.0 (but this version can´t be used in our unit´s).

Solution
Example (Codesys 3.5 SP7 Patch 1): iX T7B-SC with 2 slaves (NA-9173 with ST-3708)
- Set Pt-1000 to ST-3708 in Slave 1 with Modbus Slave Init parameters
- Set Pt-1000 to ST-3708 in Slave 2 with PLC code and trigger variable

This Program example contains one Crevis NA-9173 (NA-9171) serial modbus slave node controlled by the Crevis NA-9373 Programmable I/O.
The projectarchive is meant to be used as a quick start of applications. As the project contains one slave node with correct functioning
settings, simply duplicate the slave node to as many as you have and change node number accordingly.

The "Modbus IEC Addresses" can´t be used as "Persistent Variable" in Codesys!

Solution
Use "Persistent Variables" in the program and copy to "Modbus IEC Addresses" in the end of program.
When the modbus communiction are started copy the "Modbus IEC Addresses" to "Persistent Variables".

How to set up Crevis NA9122 in the hardware configuration

When setting up Crevis in the Hardware Configurator i Step 7 do miss to add the Head Module to slot 0. See red square. More information below picture.

It can be wise to change the "Restart on FnBus fault" to Auto Reset, which gives Crevis a more Siemens-like behaviour.

You can hard code this option in the gsd-file. Mind that Crevis delivers new gsd's with the Cycle power option as default..

Improvment has been suggested but has been decliened.

Question

CREVIS Analog IO (ST-3544) conversion time is 4ms/All channel which described in the specification.

But update time doesn´t reach at 250Hz.

Actually, its update time is remained at 10Hz approximately.......

ST-2792 and ST-4491, Modules for Building Automation industry

ST-2792 and ST-4491, are available in the range of FnIO Series Remote I/O system from Crevis.

ST-2792 is a 2 channel relay output module with Manual override function for both two outputs.
Via switches in front of the module both outputs can be manually set to ON / OFF / AUTO function.

ST-4491 is a 1 channel analogue output module (0-10V) where the analogue output signal manually can be set to desired value.
MAN / AUTO function is set via a Mode switch in front of the module, in "MAN" position the output value is set by a pot meter in front of the module,
in "AUTO" position output is controlled via the PLC program.

Both modules are developed especially to meet requirements in the Building Automation industry where manual override is a request for many applications.

CODESYS do not support read/Write to Memory Register Map at Crevis S-series

Not working in Ethercat and PIO (NA-93xx).
The most Modules with Register Memory Map have a parameter area with same function as for the Memory register Map.

ST-5111, How does the module work at overflow

If your counting and reaches the celing value 24-bit. What are the response of the overflow bit and and countvalue.

Module will start over from zero when it reaches its ceiling value of 16.777,215 + 1 pulse.

Flag SOF (Status OverFlow) will be set (latched) until CST (Clear STatus) is set by the PLC-program.

It's ring-counter.

NA-9286, Fault Action Setting (Output)

This function are supported from Firmware Version 1.003 (20170705). Delivered in NA-9286 with hardware 1.63.
Special register 0x1100 is used to control the output status at communication errors.

Value: 0x0000, Disable Fault status
- All outputs are turned OFF (FALSE)

Value: 0x0001, Enable Fault status
- All outputs are turned to the status according the values entered as Fault State values (Init parameters in the EtherCat Master).

Value: 0x0002 Hold Last state
- All outputs stays in their last state before the communication error (Freeze).

NA-9286, Check if communication is OK?

What would be the right way to confirm that we have communication with NA-9286 through EtherCat?

When you look under Diagnostics on NA-9286 in the specific slave configuration the Current State will change depending on communication status.

Current State will show us the whole procedure from INIT (1) to Operational (8).
Normally we use Operational (8) as a confirmation that we have established communication with slave.

NA-9289, IP setting Method, BootP and DHCP

IP-Address Setup using BOOTP/DHCP Server
If the adapter BOOTP/DHCP enabled (DIP switch 9= ON), the adapter sends BOOTP/DHCP request message of 20 times every 5sec.
If BOOTP/DHCP server does not response, the adapter applies it´s IP Address from EEPROM (Latest saved IP Address).

The adapter special register "0x1045 (4165)" are used to configure the IP setting method:
BootP or DHCP. (0:BOOTP, 1:DHCP (Default : 0)).

This register can be edit with IO Guide Pro / Modbus...

Read the value:

Setting DHCP (write 0001 to 0x1045):
When Setting BootP (write 0000 to 0x1045)

Result:

After setting, restart NA-9289 (then the value will be updated).

NOTE!
- After setting of IP address, set dip switch 9 to OFF!
- When adapter special register "0x1045 (4165)" is set to "0000" (BootP) the switch 9 can be ON or OFF.

IP setting on NA-9289

If BOOTP is used to set the IP of the NA-9289 do that on a LAN without a DHCP-server, DIP-switch 9 on the NA-9289 is for both BOOTP and DHCP.
After setting the IP via BOOTP set the DIP-switch to OFF or otherwise the NA-9289 will get a new IP from a DHCP-server if it´s later connected to a network like that.

Baudrate Select Switch change baudrate and Addressing type.

Fixed Addressing occupies 4 stations.
Example, Number "1" of Rotary switch occupies 4 station and baudrate is 625 Kbps.

Auto Addressing occupies minimum number of stations depending on I/O size.
Example, Number "9" of Rotary switch occupies minimum number of stations and baudrate is 10 Mbps.

In the NA-9131 there is a system area of 2 bytes reserved. According to the CC-link V1 standard, 1 station has 32 points and 4 registers (16bit) / Node.

Occupied size: 1byte 1byte 1byte = 3 bytes
This node occupies 2 stations (2 bytes resvered + 3 bytes I/O).

This is often caused by missing or wrong i\o slices / modules in the PIO node.
The node need to be equipped with the exact i\o's specified in the Codesys application.

PIO - OPC connection

NA-9372 and NA-9373 supports OPC connection from the OPC-server provided by Codesys.

Two concurrent connections are available at the same time

The interface to be used in the OPC-server setting is the GATEWAY3. For further details about the settings in the OPC-server refer to the User's manual chapter 7.6 (PIO manual)

NA-9286, NA-9289, Change parameter in I/O moduls with IO Guide Pro

The configuration software “IO Guide Pro” can be used to change I/O-moduls parameter.
Modbus RTU (serial, RS-232) is used to connect the computer to the EtherCAT node (NA-9186).

NA-9189, IP-Adress setting with ARP and IO Guide Pro

Factory settings

IP-adress 192.168.123.1

Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway 192.168.123.254

IP adress change:
The adress can be changed in two ways.
- The basic way is by "arp" commands from the old dos command promt. This is explained further down.
- The most intuitive way to change the adresses is probably to use the "boot server tool" in the software "IO Guide Pro"

Step by step (use Windows XP):
Start the IO Guide Pro
In the "tools" menu, select "bootp server"
Click "add new device" button at the bottom of the interface
Fill in the requested parameters. (the mac adress is printed on the node module)
Click Ok, close down the Bootp tool, and try to ping the unit :)
Now you can create a new project in the I\O guide with the correct node type.
Then run "autoscan" in IO Guide PRO to aquire the node i\o configuration (the green "antenna" icon sown belowe)
Now you can check \ monitor the nodes i\o directly in theIO Guide Pro.

Setting of the IP address via the ARP table

An easy method to change the addressing is using the DOS window.
Only addresses in the same network class can be changed!
The new address will be stored and kept even when the module is powered down.

NA-9173, NA-9171, Max Watchdog time

Max time are 65535 (1 unit=100 ms).

Watchdog can be set OFF and then the node get no "Fault action".

=> Set DIP-switch NO. 4 to ON. Then the watchdog function should be disable.

Another option:
- Set the 0 value for watchdog time, (Default is 50). It would be set "infinite", It will do not fault action.

In the IO Guide you can change to default setting or a new configuartion.

Tested with IOGuidePro ver 1.1.01 and NA-9173 (F/W 1004, H/W 2.02).

Input Process Image mode always retains its position.
- regardless if you change, delete or insert a new module.
The mode can only be changed by the PLC programs or IOGuidePro.

Module setting is changed at:
- change in the node (add or remove module)
The settings are retained when replacing the module (eg, ST-3702 against another ST-3702).

If NA-9173 are exchanged, all settings must be done again.

All network adapter work at the same way.

NA-9189, How to change the TCP Connection Timeout parameter

When resetting the Q-cpu there is a time before communication starts again. This is normal because the NA-9189 has a parameter which controls the TCP session and when resetting the Q-cpu this session isn't terminated correctly.

The time before the session is terminated in the NA-9189 is controlled by the "TCP Connection Timeout" parameter. If this time is decreased communication will startup faster.

Typical cases:
1. Reset of the Q-cpu

2. Powering OFF and ON the Q-cpu

You can use the software "IOGuidePro" to change the value.

NA-9173, Maximum number of device without repeater (Modbus RS485)

A figure of 32 device is always authorized on any RS485-MODBUS system without repeater.
Depending of :
- all the possible addresses.
- the figure of RS485 Unit Load used by the device.
- and the line polarization in need be.
RS485 system may implement a larger number of devices. Some devices allow the
implementation of a RS485-MODBUS serial line with more than 32 devices, without repeater.
In this case these MODBUS devices must be documented to say how many of such
devices are authorized without repeater. The use of a repeater between two heavy loaded
RS485-MODBUS is also possible.

Use Westermo repeater RD-48. Up to 8 unit´s can be used in a network.

NA-9473, The output are not RESET when there are communications error

The output are not RESET when there are communications error.
We have try to change the watch dog timer (0x1020). Still problem.

We use: NA-9473, F/W1.001, H/W 1.10

Solution
New F/W version 1.002 (26 mars 2013).
Update can be done at service department.

The watchdog function is now default.
Disable the watchdog: set the 0 at register 0x1020(4128d).
This set value would be stored at EEPROM.

TxB Softcontrol - Check communication status against ModbusTCP (NA-9289)

Simple Codesys-logic to check that ModbusTCP communication is running OK towards I/O node.

Tested with T7B SC (3.5.7.10) and NA-9289 (FW 1.008).

ProfibusDp time do not change (appr. same time for 1,5 and 12 Mb)

Common noise filter NBH-06-432-D to FnIO S- and M-series (for DNV certificate)

To fullfil DNV certificate standard, the common noise filter 'NBH-06-432-D' from Cosel need to installed between the power supply and the remote IO. The purpose of this is to suppress conductive emission of FnIO Series. If you use other noise filters, our DNV certificate will be ineffective. See attached datasheet of the specification of the filter and example how to connect this noise filter to the FnIO S-series, principle is the same for M-series.

- S- and G- (or M-) series modules cannot be mixed since they are mechanically different, however it is perfectly possible to have connect a S-series and G-series network adapter to the same network.
